Howdy!
Biggest news around the lake, the crappie are biting and not just in the north end but all over the lake! The size is actually the biggest news because most of the fish are well over 10 inches and many are 13 inches plus! Biting patterns vary from jigging 15 feet over brush to casting over brush in five to 6 feet of water. The common denominator is brush meaning wood structure such as old trees, stumps or brush piles. Tube jigs are working well and I'm sure minnows are working too. Jim and I caught 4 this past Friday. The biggest was 13.5 inches and the smallest was 12.75 inches.
The weather this weekend was mostly colder than normal and Saturday mostly wet. Jim was out with his 2 buddies Dick and Dick on Saturday and Sunday. They dodged the rain, fished in the cold and kept 12 crappie. The biggest once again was 13.5 inches and the smallest was 10 inches. They released a few others that were under 10 inches. And caught some bass.
This past Tuesday Jim took his neighbor Quinton fishing and they fished from 3:00PM to 6:00PM. They boated 8 crappie none under 10 inches and 2 over 14 inches. They tossed the 14 inchers back and kept the rest. Quinton landed a 19 inch bass as well and caught 3 other bass which appeared to be rising on shad!!! Not bad for a 3 hour tour.
Bass fishing has been great. Jigs, worms and spinner-baits seem to be the favorite lure. Shoreline, flats and drop-offs all seem to be working well. Weeds or wood, makes no difference. And when you can, fish parallel to the shore.

I have a brand new single slip dock ready to launch. It has 20 inch thick floats and can have a roof or boat lift added to it at any time. The slip is 24 foot long and the decking is over 4 feet wide! It has never been in the water. It is brand spanking new. So if you need a new dock or it's just not there, call or email me.
